The Apprentice Engineer known as the Engine Cadet is an engine officer in training who, on industrial attachment, board a ship. The person will learn various
operations carried out during the allocated time for sea experience (Cadetship Program). after a degree program, which will allow the person to sit for a license
examination as an Engine Officer of the Watch (EOOW).
In the engine department, the Chief Engineer (ChEng for short) is the head of the engine department, which is directly responsible for the welfare of the engine staff and every operation, project, and maintenance carried out in the engine room every other machinery space onboard.
